The Heart Nebula

The Heart Nebula is a star forming region, where the central stars are among the youngest and hottest in the area. These central stars are responsible for shaping the surrounding clouds of nebulosity and gas due to the intense radiation and solar winds that they emit. I captured these clouds of gas using filters on my camera that detect the wavelength of light emitted by sulfur, hydrogen, and oxygen. I assigned these exposures to red, green, and blue respectively to create this SHO color palette rendition of the Heart Nebula. This image was captured in my backyard in October of 2022.
